For a very important project in Indonesia

In October 2021, Andritz Hydro begun the on-site manufacturing of Gates and Penstocks for Asahan 3, Sumatera Island, Indonesia. Asahan 3 is an important milestone for Indonesia’s development, generating low-cost electricity and giving a contribution to the country’s commitment to increase the share of renewables in its total energy mix. Andritz Hydro had previously signed a contract with PT. PLN (Persero) for the design, manufacturing and installation of both Gates and Penstocks.

When it comes to manufacturing Penstocks, a very important part is played by the rolling activity, that needs to be performed with full respect of the technical specifications of the project. Through Andritz Hydro HQ in Austria, procurement contacted DAVI and was immediately presented a Plate Roll solution capable of carrying on the job with speed and accuracy. The four-roll Plate Bending machine selected together has been a machine with 10’ x 3” capacity, and allowed the client to avoid relying on third-party vendors for rolling, thus reducing time and costs accordingly.

For this specific project that involves cylinder, cone and elbow parts to be manufactured, the Plate Bending Machine has rolled plates from 5/8” to 2” thickness in order to fabricate pipes with diameters ranging from 6’ to 16’, but Andritz Hydro Indonesia plans to use the machine also for future works.

Thanks to the good performance of the Plate Roll and the great sales and service support provided by Kawan Lama (partner of DAVI for the Indonesian market), DAVI obtained the trust of the customer, assured also by the very positive feedbacks given by the operators.
